The Difference Between Parliamentary Democracy and Parliamentary Dictatorship

The essence of democracy cannot be simply reduced to majority rule. While majority voting is an essential decision-making process in democratic systems, it is neither the core value nor the ultimate goal of democracy. At its heart, democracy is about human dignity, equality, and the rule of law. True democracy flourishes through the protection of minority rights and the pursuit of the public good through in-depth discussions and deliberations. This process, not just the outcome, is the true bloom of democracy.

1. The Limitations of Majority Rule and the Importance of Deliberative Democracy

Majority rule is an effective decision-making method, but it does not always guarantee the right conclusion. If the majority disregards the rule of law and fundamental rights or infringes on the rights of minorities, it violates the spirit of democracy. Deliberative democracy aims to reach the best conclusion through fact-based discussions and in-depth deliberations, rather than relying solely on votes. Therefore, the true essence of democracy lies in respecting diverse opinions, protecting minorities, and striving for the public good through thoughtful dialogue and deliberation.

2. Problems with the Impeachment Process and the Danger of Parliamentary Dictatorship

Impeaching a president is a grave matter that requires thorough deliberation and national consensus. However, if impeachment is decided solely through majority voting without sufficient discussion, it risks becoming parliamentary dictatorship. As the representative body of the people, the parliament must operate based on public trust. Forcing a vote without proper deliberation distorts democracy and constitutes a reckless abuse of power.

3. The Coup d'état: Violations of the Constitution and Criminal Law

Recently, the Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials (CIO), which does not have the authority to prosecute certain cases, obtained a warrant from the Seoul Western District Court to search a military facility. This act disregards both the Constitution and the Criminal Code, posing a serious legal problem. Articles 110 and 111 of the Criminal Procedure Act explicitly prohibit the search and seizure of military confidential facilities. Ignoring these provisions and allowing unauthorized searches amounts to treasonous behavior that undermines national security.
Furthermore, issuing an arrest warrant for the President without legal grounds shows a lack of respect for the head of state. Such actions, without due legal process, severely damage the sovereignty of the people and the rule of law.

4. Respect for the Head of State and Responsibility to the People

Even if a president is suspected of criminal behavior, proper legal procedures and explanations to the public must be prioritized. Respect for the head of state is not mere formality but an acknowledgment of the people who elected the president. However, some political factions disregard public sovereignty and engage in treasonous acts by following the orders of foreign powers. This behavior threatens the sovereignty.

5. President Yoon Suk-yeol's Role and Responsibility

President Yoon Suk-yeol has embarked on a solitary battle against powerful forces to protect South Korea and its people. He has chosen to sacrifice himself to inform the public of the truth and seek support from the international community. Some conservative citizens have failed to understand the President's struggles, instead criticizing him or making unreasonable demands. Now is the time for national unity. The people must stand with the President to safeguard the nation from communist threats.

Conclusion

President Yoon Suk-yeol is not merely protecting his administration but defending the very foundation of South Korea — the homeland of the people. South Korea faces a serious threat from foreign powers. Overcoming this challenge requires national solidarity and international cooperation.
Democracy is not about simple majority rule. It thrives through deliberation and the process of protecting the rule of law and the sovereignty of the people. We must reaffirm the essence of democracy to uphold justice and fairness. Attempts to undermine democracy under the guise of majority rule are unacceptable acts of tyranny. The people must unite to protect democracy at all costs. Democracy is a value worth shedding blood for, and any attempt to destroy it must be condemned and punished without exception.
