로마서 10장 2, 3절
2.For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.

testify 증거하다. zealous 열성적인,열심인,열광적인. zeal 열심,열정. be not based on ~에 기초를 두지 않다. knowledge 지식,학문,견문. about them : “them”은 앞의 1절 brothers을 받음.
바울이 유대인들에 대해 언급한 이 말은 오늘날 한낱 종교집단으로 전락한 수 많은 기독교 교단 교회들에게 그대로 적용되는 언급이다. 하나님께 대한 열정은 있는 듯한데, 그 열성이 성경의 진리에 입각한 참된 지식에 따른 것이 아닌지라 하나님과는 전혀 무관한 열성인 것이다. 예를들어 유대인들, 여호와 증인, 인식교도들, 카톨릭교도, 이단들도 마찬가지다. 그들은 열심은 내나 참된 지식을 좇은 것이 아니다.
사도행전 21:17-20
17 예루살렘에 이르니 형제들이 우리를 기꺼이 영접하거늘
18 그 이튿날 바울이 우리와 함께 야고보에게로 들어가니 장로들도 다 있더라
19 바울이 문안하고 하나님이 자기의 봉사로 말미암아 이방 가운데서 하신 일을 낱낱이 고하니
20 저희가 듣고 하나님께 영광을 돌리고 바울더러 이르되 형제여 그대도 보는 바에 유대인 중에 믿는 수 만 명이 있으니 다 율법에 열심 있는 자라
17.When we arrived at Jerusalem, the brothers received us warmly.
18.The next day Paul and the rest of us went to see James, and all the elders were present.
19.Paul greeted them and reported in detail what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.
20.When they heard this, they praised God. Then they said to Paul: "You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews have believed, and all of them are zealous for the law.
로마서 9:30-32
30 그런즉 우리가 무슨 말 하리요 의를 좇지 아니한 이방인들이 의를 얻었으니 곧 믿음에서 난 의요
31 의의 법을 좇아간 이스라엘은 법에 이르지 못하였으니
32 어찌 그러하뇨 이는 저희가 믿음에 의하지 않고 행위에 의지함이라 부딪힐 돌에 부딪혔느니라
30.What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;
31.but Israel, who pursued a law of righteousness, has not attained it.
32.Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the "stumbling stone."

the righteousness that comes from God : 하나님으로부터 오는 의
종교집단들이 열성은 있으되, 그 열성이 지향하는 바가 무엇인지를 바울은 예리하게 파헤치면서 그들의 문제가 무엇인지를 정확하게 지적한다. “자기들의 의를 세우려 함” 이것이 모든 종교적 열성분자들의 공통된 주요 관심사요 목표다. “하나님의 의”가 무엇인지, “하나님의 의”에 이르기 위해 어찌해야 하는지, 그런 것은 이들의 관심사가 아니다. 그들의 관심사는 오로지 자신들의 의를 세우는 일이다. 그러니 이들이 하나님의 의에 복종하지 않는 것은 자연스러운 결과요, 그들에게서 발견되는 문제가 바로 이것이다.
“하나님의 의에 복종치 아니하였음”이라는 판결을 받는다면 하나님께 대한 열성이 아무리 지극한들 그게 다 무슨 소용이 있는가? 하나님께서 당신에게 요구하는 것은 하나님의 의에 복종하는 것이지 당신의 의를 세우는 데 열성을 하는 것이 아니다.
로마서 1:17
17 복음에는 하나님의 의가 나타나서 믿음으로 믿음에 이르게 하나니 기록된바 오직 의인은 믿음으로 말미암아 살리라 함과 같으니라
17.For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."
